National and state leaders have a vested interest in not only postsecondary degrees and certificates, but also industry credentials and professional licenses and certifications, as part of efforts to build a skilled workforce. The growing prevalence of industry certifications challenges education and job training programs to access data on students obtaining certifications and their employment and earnings outcomes. Iowa has begun developing integrated data and reporting systems through partnerships with other state agencies and third party certification bodies to identify the number of credentials and licenses across the state which includes tracking the progress on student credential attainment and employment and earnings outcomes. 

CDL Outcomes

The new Iowa Commercial Driver's License (CDL) interactive dashboard was created by the Iowa Department of Education in partnership with the Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa Workforce Development. The dashboard contains information on license holders across the state of Iowa including demographics such as age and gender of the licensed drivers by county.
